How Sponsorship Works
We set up a program enlisting 8 to 10 local businesses and/or professionals as sponsors. Upon signing up, the sponsor can sit back and relax while we do the rest. We arrange for a local individual to facilitate the program (the Program Administrator or “PA”). The PA actively seeks out members of the community who are eligible for a gift. Along with the gift, we provide the recipient with pre-addressed appreciation cards for each of the sponsors and a mini questionnaire. The appreciation cards are often sent directly to the sponsors as a thank-you from the gift recipient. The questionnaires get sent to the myCommunity office for our records and accompany the sponsors on the Area Coordinator’s next visit to the community.
Benefits of Sponsorship
By providing individuals with such a substantial free gift at such significant occasions in their lives, sponsors make a lasting impression not only with the individuals receiving the gift but also with friends and family and everyone else the recipient tells about it. Not only is this good public relations, but sponsors can also feel satisfied that they have given back to the community. Many of our sponsors are small businesses inextricably linked to the community where they are located. Being citizens of the community, they have more than just a business interest in their communities and our program provides a means for them to express this deeper relationship. There is no doubt that local entrepreneurs and business leaders have a profound and collective influence on the families they serve. And when they go beyond the borders of their primary roles to get involved in community projects, they lead by example. Being active in the community makes a powerful statement about their ethics, values and spirit and generates word of mouth! At myCommunity, our mission is to help local businesses find additional ways to show that they care, while reaping the benefits of positive word of mouth. |
